Melksham Assembly Hall and White Horse Pictures present the fantastic British food comedy film "A Private Function" (15) starring Michael Palin, Maggie Smith, Richard Griffiths and Pete Postlethwaite. "A Private Function" has recently been made into the hit West End musical Betty Blue Eyes and is sure to raise a smile.

Wine Tasting with Sainsbury's

Do you know your Chardonnay from your Sauvignon Blanc? If not come along to Sainsbury's Wine Tasting event in the Town Hall at either 7pm or 8:15. You will be guided through a range of different wines and samples of food to accompany them. After the tasting you will receive a £5 gift card to spend in Sainsbury's on your new favourite tipple. This was a sell out event in 2010 so don't be left on the vine. Tickets are available from Sainsbury's Information Desk at a cost of £5, making this technically a free event.

Also on the 11th at 7pm, Poulshot Lodge Farm are hosting a barbecue and talk about how their meat is produced. Tickets are £5 and included in that is the barbecue, a £2.50 discount in the farm shop and with each ticket purchased a £2.50 donation will be made to Dorothy House.

The Food Festival Quiz at Melksham House

The Food Festival quiz organised by Melksham Rotary in aid of The Rotary "KIDS OUT " charity takes place at 7:30pm. "KIDS OUT" is a National charity that aims to take children with special needs out for a special experience, to make special memories for them and their carers. Melksham Rotary will ensure the money raised helps fund places for Melksham children to enjoy the regional event, which is an all expenses paid day out to Longleat.


The cost is £5 per person with teams of 4. Please book in advance by phoning Bruce Sanders on 0770 6059365 although teams will still be accepted on the night up to a maximum of 20 teams.

 

THURSDAY 14TH JULY 2011

 

The Safari Supper
Meeting at the Town Hall

The Safari Supper is a not to be missed opportunity to dine at some of Melksham's finest venues. The evening will start as you meet your coach at the Town Hall before being driven to the Beechfield House Hotel for canapês and a drink to get you in the mood. You will then be taken to The Conigre Rooms and Restaurant for a delicious starter and a glass of wine. Marco Pierre White's new restaurant The Pear Tree will be your next destination as you enjoy your main course and another glass of wine. Finally the coach will bring you to the Shaw Country Hotel where you will be treated to a mouth watering dessert and a coffee after which the coach will be waiting to bring you back to the Town Hall.


Tickets for the Safari Supper have always sold out quickly and due to the popularity will be on a strictly first come first served basis from the Shaw Country Hotel from 7pm Thursday 16th June at a cost of £35 each, maximum 4 per application.

Carnival and the Party in the Park - for residents and visitors alike - when everyone comes out onto the street, then on to Party in the Park - and the grand finale, fireworks! Each year a small group organise the Carnival, improving it year on year. For 2011 we have a new organising group who have made it their mission to make this the biggest and best event the town has seen, following on from last year's success!
